Profile Q&A: Answer Before a Stranger Does It for You
On every Business Profile there is a section most owners have never opened: Questions and answers. Customers ask things there in public ("Do you handle senior fares?", "Open on Sunday?"), and here is the part that surprises people: anyone can answer. Google happily shows a reply from a random stranger, a competitor, or an old customer with outdated information, right on your profile, looking for all the world like your official word. Silence in the Q&A section is not neutral; it is delegation to whoever types first.
Why this tiny section punches above its weight
Q&A sits on the profile itself, in front of people who already found you and are deciding: exactly the conversion moment the posts and insights articles keep pointing at. Questions there echo the ones your team answers on WhatsApp daily, and the answers persist: one good reply keeps working for years. It also feeds the machine: profile Q&A is one of the places Google mines to understand what your business does, alongside your services list and reviews.
Seed it yourself: allowed, encouraged, and almost nobody does it
Google explicitly permits the business to post questions and answer them, and this is the whole strategy: take the five to eight questions customers actually ask (your WhatsApp history has them, the FAQ articles already made you collect them) and post each as a question from the business account, answered by the business account, plainly and specifically.
"Do you arrange senior citizen fares?" answered with who qualifies, roughly what it saves, and what documents to have. "Can you fix a name spelling on an issued ticket?" answered with the honest timeline and fee shape. Same rules as everywhere else in this series: real specifics, no invented claims, straight talk in the language customers use, Hinglish welcome if that is how they ask.
The weekly thirty seconds
- Open your profile (search your business name while signed in) and check for new questions; answering from the business account puts an owner badge on the reply
- Answer within the week; a question sitting unanswered invites stranger answers, and the asker has usually moved on within days
- Thumbs-up your own best answers: upvoted answers rank first when multiple exist
- Flag genuinely wrong or spammy answers from others (works like the map-spam reporting: facts, screenshots if needed, patience)
- When a new question keeps appearing, it belongs in three places: profile Q&A, the matching service page FAQ, and the saved replies your team uses
What not to do
Do not stuff answers with keywords or turn them into ads; a question about parking answered with a sales pitch reads exactly as bad as it sounds. Do not post fake enthusiastic questions ("Why is this the best travel agency in Delhi?"); the pattern is transparent and Google removes staged content. And do not let the section contradict the profile: if Q&A says you open Sundays and the hours say closed, you have manufactured the confusion yourself. The consistency habit from the verification article applies here too.
FAQ
I answered a question but the asker never responded. Was it wasted?
The asker is the smallest part of the audience. Every future visitor who scrolls past that exchange gets the answer without asking, which is the actual return: Q&A is content that looks like conversation.
Can I delete a rude or wrong question on my profile?
You cannot delete others' content directly; you can flag what violates policy (spam, offensive, off-topic) and answer the rest calmly with the correct information. A wrong answer sitting next to your precise, owner-badged correction usually does you more good than an empty section.
Where do I even find the Q&A section as the owner?
Search your business name in Google or Maps while signed in to the managing account; the Questions and answers block sits on the profile, with an option to ask and to answer. On the Maps app it appears under the About or Overview tabs. If you have never looked, expect a few unanswered questions already waiting.
